An Auction Algorithm 1 for the Max - Flow Problem
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a new algorithm for the max-flow problem. It consists of a sequence of augmentations along paths constructed by an auction-like algorithm. These paths are not necessarily shortest, that is, they need not contain a minimum number of arcs. However, they typically can be found with much less computation than the shortest augmenting paths used by competing methods. Our algorithm outperforms these latter methods as well as state-of-the-art preflow-push algorithms by a very large margin in tests with standard randomly generated problems. 1 Many thanks are due to David Castanon and Paul Tseng for several helpful comments. The suggestions of the referees were also appreciated. David Castanon, Lakis Polymenakos, and WonJong Kim helped with some of the computational experimentation. متن کاملSelecting Efficient Service-providers in Electric Power Distribution Industry Using Combinatorial Reverse Auction
In this paper, a combinatorial reverse auction mechanism is proposed for selecting the most efficient service-providers for resolving sustained power interruptions in multiple regions of an electric power distribution company’s responsibility area. Through this mechanism, supplying the required service in each region is assigned to only one potential service-provider considering two criteria in...
متن کاملAuction algorithms for network flow problems: A tutorial introduction
This paper surveys a new and comprehensive class of algorithms for solving the classical linear network flow problem and its various special cases such as shortest path, max-flow, assignment, transportation, and transhipment problems. The prototype method, from which the other algorithms can be derived, is the auction algorithm for the assignment problem. This is an intuitive method that operat...
متن کاملAn Auction/sequential Shortest Path Algorithm for the Minimum Cost Network Flow Problem1
We propose a new algorithm for the solution of the linear minimum cost network flow problem, based on a sequential shortest path augmentation approach. Each shortest path is constructed by means of the recently proposed auction/shortest path algorithm. This approach allows useful information to be passed from one shortest path construction to the next. However, the naive implementation of this ...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Genetic Algorithm for Advertising Time Allocation Problems
Commercial advertising is the main source of income for TV channels and allocation of advertising time slots for maximizing broadcasting revenues is the major problem faced by TV channel planners. In this paper, the problem of scheduling advertisements on prime-time of a TV channel is considered. The problem is formulated as a multi-unit combinatorial auction based mathematical model. This is a...
